On a personal note…
My clients often experience me as empathetic, approachable, and authentic. I bring my own humanity into the room because I never want therapy to feel cold or overly formal. My recovery journey has taught me how isolating shame can be and how easy it is to believe that past decisions say something permanent about who you are. I want my clients to know they can share the parts of their stories they usually hide and still be met with compassion.
Being a single mother has also taught me a great deal about resilience and flexibility. Strength does not always look dramatic. Sometimes it means trying again, asking for help, setting a boundary, or accomplishing one small goal on a difficult day. I believe those moments deserve to be noticed and celebrated.
Outside of therapy, I have both an adventurous and a creative side. I love taking my Jeep off-roading and exploring rugged trails, but I also enjoy slowing down to paint or doodle. Painting helps me stay present and express emotions that are not always easy to put into words.
I love playing golf with my daughter—not only for the game, but for the time we spend outside laughing, connecting, and practicing patience together. I am also adventurous about trying foods from different cultures, although my most predictable culinary obsession is crème brûlée. I make it often enough that the people in my life tease me about it, and I am just as enthusiastic about eating it as I am about baking it.
One of my favorite reminders is, “The comeback is always greater than the setback.” It reflects what I hope my clients come to believe: your struggles do not define you, setbacks do not erase your progress, and there is always room to begin again.
