OCD can significantly interfere with daily life, but it is manageable with the right treatment.

  • Individuals with OCD often experience overwhelming anxiety due to intrusive thoughts, leading them to engage in rituals or compulsions to find temporary relief. This cycle can be distressing, as compulsive behaviors may provide only brief comfort and often reinforce the obsession. Trauma and PTSD

Understanding Trauma and PTSD

Trauma can result from any distressing experience that is beyond our capacity. It could be as big as accidents, abuse, or loss and as small as an unkind word, dismissiveness or shame. When trauma symptoms persist over time, it may lead to post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) or dissociative disorders. Common symptoms include flashbacks, nightmares, emotional numbness, heightened anxiety, people pleasing and relationship distress.

  • Living with trauma or PTSD can feel like reliving the distress over and over. You might have flashbacks, trouble sleeping, or find yourself avoiding people or places that remind you of the event. Trauma can also cause difficulty in trusting others or regulating emotions. Or you may just feel unwell and not know why.

  • If you are human, you have likely experienced a traumatic event. You may have racing thoughts, fear of getting in trouble and persistently try to please others. If you struggle  with persistent anxiety, flashbacks, hypervigilance or nightmares, you may be dealing with PTSD.
