I'm Kate, a dedicated mental health professional guiding individuals in their journeys toward better mental health, emotional resilience, and well-being through personalized strategies and compassionate support.

I believe that mental wellness is just as crucial as physical health, and I work to reduce stigma surrounding mental health by empowering clients to be seen and supported. In our work together, I help clients manage emotional overwhelm, gain insight, and develop practical coping tools, ensuring they feel understood and empowered throughout the process.

My ideal client is someone ready to look inward and make meaningful changes, whether they’re college students, men, or individuals going through life transitions. By the end of our work together, I aim for clients to feel more self-aware, confident in their emotional resilience, and equipped to handle life’s ups and downs.

My academic background includes a BS in Neuroscience from Christopher Newport University and a Master of Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University. Before my graduate studies, I worked for five years as a Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) technician, where I treated individuals with Major Depressive Disorder. This experience deepened my passion for mental health and understanding the brain-behavior connection.

I specialize in working with clients facing depression, navigating life transitions, managing academic stress, and focusing on men’s mental health. My therapeutic approach is eclectic, primarily utilizing person-centered counseling and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), while also incorporating elements from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) tailored to each client's needs. I strive to create a warm, supportive space where clients can feel safe to explore their challenges while often using humor to lighten the mood.

On a personal note…

Outside of therapy, I have a few fun passions—crocheting intricate doilies, playing the piano (I’ve done so for over 20 years), and tackling jigsaw puzzles. My favorite quote, “Perfect is the enemy of good,” serves as a reminder that progress is more important than perfection, both in life and therapy.

Prioritizing self-care is essential for me, and I make it a point to carve out time to read every night. This helps me unwind and brings balance to my life, allowing me to show up fully for my clients.

I am continuously inspired by my clients’ resilience and growth. Being part of their journeys and helping them navigate challenges motivates me daily. If you're ready to embark on your path to mental wellness, I’d be honored to support you every step of the way!
