Hi there! I’m Kellie, and I’m excited to be a part of the wonderful Mindful Therapy team. Being here allows me to connect with others and contribute to the valuable work we do together.
I hold a Master’s Degree in Social Work and have dedicated years to specializing in the treatment of eating disorders. My experience includes working with acute clients in residential settings, where I utilize the "gold standard" treatment approaches, including Health At Every Size and Intuitive Eating, to help clients find their way to a healthier relationship with food and their bodies.
As a compassionate therapist, my style revolves around creating a safe and supportive environment where clients can open up about their inner worlds. I prioritize validation, gentleness, and genuine curiosity in our sessions, fostering an atmosphere where vulnerability can thrive. Having navigated my own experiences with anxiety and body image challenges, I deeply understand the pain many of my clients face. I strive to remind them that they are never alone in their struggles and that their humanity connects us all.
I firmly believe that emotional intelligence is essential for everyone to thrive in life. Access to mental health care should be a right, not a privilege, and I’m committed to providing accessible, supportive care that helps clients build the coping skills necessary for a fulfilling life. My ideal client is someone eager to explore their inner landscape, working together to break free from dysfunctional patterns and engage in deeper emotional processing.
One of my favorite quotes comes from Aristotle: “The most important relationship we can all have is the one you have with yourself.” This resonates with me, as I believe that strengthening our self-relationship is crucial for personal growth. In therapy, we can explore our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors with curiosity and compassion, leading to meaningful transformation.
On a personal note…
I love to have fun! I’m obsessed with sauces (extra is a must!), and as a newlywed, I’m enjoying all the coffee my new espresso machine can make. I also find joy in hot yoga, boxing, and walks around the neighborhood, helping me feel connected to my body when I need a break. You might catch me belting out harmonies in the car, just another quirky way I express my joy!
I’m inspired to work in mental health because I truly believe that the world becomes a more peaceful place when we prioritize individual mental and emotional health. My goal is to assist clients on their journeys of self-improvement, knowing that their growth not only impacts their own lives but also creates positive ripples in the lives of those around them. Together, we can embark on this healing journey, empowering you every step of the way!
