Hey there! I’m Laney, the proud owner and founder of Mindful Therapy, where we focus on providing a supportive and nurturing environment for individuals seeking personal growth and healing.
My therapeutic style is where the fun really happens! Think casual yet professional, with a good dose of relatability. I love engaging clients with stories and relatable examples that turn complex concepts into applicable life skills. I’m not afraid to gently call out unhelpful behaviors or thoughts, all while fostering a safe and welcoming environment. Having ADHD myself means I know a thing or two about being high-energy and distractible, and work well with folks who struggle too. Empowerment is key; I always encourage my clients to lead the conversation and tell me what they need from our time together.
I also believe in the importance of mental health advocacy and addressing systems of oppression and other forms of discrimination while normalizing therapy to break down stigma. I celebrate sexual diversity and work to create a space where every aspect of my clients’ identities is validated.
With a decade of experience as a therapist and three exciting years managing this amazing practice, I blend enthusiasm, fun, and wisdom into every session. My mission is to make mental health feel accessible and approachable while ensuring we tackle important topics with intelligence and empathy.
I earned my Master’s in Social Work from George Mason University in 2014, all while being a new mom (talk about multitasking!). I’m certified in EMDR, trained in Internal Family Systems (IFS), and have completed CSTIP training, which allows me to specialize in sexual health (one of my favorite topics!). I focus on helping clients heal "the self," improving self-awareness, self-care, self-compassion, self-love, and self-esteem—because let’s face it, we all worthy and deserving of love!
On a personal note…
I embrace a variety of interests that help me maintain balance and joy. I love home décor – there’s something special about creating a beautiful space to live in. I enjoy spending my leisure time playing board games, watching movies, and relaxing at the spa. Nothing beats unwinding in a hot tub or sauna!
Self-care is vital to me, and I often find peace in nature, whether it’s taking walks, heading to the beach, or taking in the sun in my backyard. I also enjoy the open spaces and vibrant activities that Southern Utah has to offer, from pickleball to golfing- I enjoy the dry desert air. Most importantly, I cherish time with my family as I raise three wonderful kids who inspire me every day.
