Hello! I’m Madeline, and I’m excited to be interning at Mindful Therapy as I work toward my Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) at George Mason University. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Mary Washington and am gaining specialized training in motivational interviewing, trauma-informed practices, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). My journey in mental health comes from a deep place of respect for the resilience we all have to grow and heal.
I strive to create a gentle and welcoming environment where meaningful change can happen. My goal is to help clients work through deep-rooted emotional pain and trauma, guiding them toward a place of internal peace. I use a mix of cognitive behavioral skills and person-centered approaches to ensure that our conversations are open and supportive. I believe in offering alternative perspectives and fostering cognition that encourages healing and growth.
Hi I’m Madeline! I’m excited to be interning at Mindful Therapy as I work toward my Master’s Degree in Social Work
Mental health advocacy is incredibly important to me. I firmly believe that prioritizing mental wellness is essential for overall happiness and satisfaction in life. It’s about more than just the occasional self-care treat—it’s about nurturing our mental needs to build stronger relationships and adapt to life’s challenges.
What makes me relatable is my own dedication to mental wellness and recovery. I’ve been on this journey myself, so I understand the brave step it takes to share difficult feelings. I want my clients to know that they are safe with me as we explore those tough topics together.
I truly enjoy working with adults of all ages, especially those seeking relief from trauma, anxiety, depression, and life transitions. Together, we’ll tackle negative self-talk, reframe harmful mindsets, and build resilience, empowering you to embrace the wonderful person you are.
On a personal note…
I find joy in tending to my garden and caring for my small flock of backyard chickens and ducks! Nature brings me peace, and my pets fill my life with love. A quote that inspires me comes from Martin Luther King Jr.: “If you can't fly then run, if you can't run then walk, if you can't walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.” This mantra is a reminder that progress is progress, no matter the pace!
For self-care, I love going for walks with my dogs—their unconditional love always brightens my day, even when things get tough. I believe taking that first step, whether it’s making a call or sending an email, is key to investing in your wellness, and I’m here to support you on that journey.
I can’t wait to join you on your path to healing and help you navigate this beautiful, sometimes messy, adventure of life!
