Hello! I’m Mitchell, and am proud to be part of the Mindful Therapy team. I’m here to support you every step of the way!
I graduated with my Master of Social Work from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2023 and was certified as a crisis counselor with the Trevor Project in 2020, specializing in support for LGBTQ+ youth navigating mental health crises, homelessness, and abuse. I immerse myself in radical empathy, aiming to create a safe haven for members of marginalized communities as they confront their challenges.
My therapeutic style is informal and warm, helping clients feel comfortable as they explore their emotions and goals. I’m here to offer kindness and understanding while supporting you through the complexities of therapy. Having experienced the ups and downs of therapy myself, I understand how vital it is to feel recognized and validated in your journey. My approach centers on empowering you as the expert in your own experiences while providing gentle guidance.
I firmly believe in the importance of mental health advocacy and the profound impact mental wellness has on our lives. Recognizing that our thoughts can hold significant weight, I aim to help clients understand that they are much more than their past struggles or negative self-perceptions. I invite clients to reflect on their journeys, nurturing an environment where you can embrace both your challenges and your resilience.
When our work together concludes, my hope is that clients leave with the tools to embrace self-love and the confidence to tackle future challenges with ease. Together, we’ll build skills that empower you to find joy and fulfillment in your life.
On a personal note…
When I’m not in the therapy room, I’m making music as an experienced baritone in a choir or diving into the fascinating world of Wikipedia (often with 27 tabs open!). I also enjoy assembling jigsaw puzzles—a perfect pastime for a reflective mind! One of my favorite quotes is from Meister Eckhart: "If the only prayer you ever say in your entire life is thank you, it will be enough." This resonates deeply with me, highlighting the importance of gratitude, even in facing life’s challenges.
My go-to self-care practice consists of leisurely walks outside, allowing me to regulate my breathing and reconnect with myself after a day of work. I believe that self-care is essential, and I encourage my clients to integrate similar practices that promote mindfulness and presence amidst life’s distractions.
Ultimately, my passion for mental health comes from witnessing the transformative power of therapy in the lives of those I care about. I strive to be a source of unwavering belief in your potential, even when you might struggle to believe in yourself. Let’s work together to navigate your journey and explore the possibilities that lie ahead—you deserve to thrive!
