Hi, I’m Scott, and I’m excited to be a part of the Mindful Therapy team. I look forward to supporting you on your journey!
I hold a BA in English Literature from Boston University and an MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Capella University. My passion lies in helping individuals recover from substance use disorders and tackle challenges like anxiety, depression, ADHD, and OCD. I’m all about supporting you in understanding your life through your unique lens and creating a safe, compassionate space where you can grow and heal.
In our therapy sessions, I mix it up with a fun blend of modalities, including IFS, Psychodynamic therapy, CBT, and DBT. I particularly love IFS because it celebrates the different sides of our personalities, helping us build healthier relationships with our feelings. I believe that our anxieties and even our bouts of depression often come from parts of ourselves trying to be helpful in their own awkward way. Instead of trying to get rid of these traits, I invite my clients to embrace them! Let’s turn potential sources of pain into springs of creativity together!
As an advocate for mental health, I’m all about fostering kindness and connection among everyone I meet. My goal? To create a unifying force that highlights just how crucial mental wellness is in every facet of our lives. I truly believe that when we prioritize our mental health, it positively impacts our relationships, our work, and even our overall happiness.
I’m dedicated to cultivating a warm and welcoming environment where clients feel comfortable exploring their relationships and personal dynamics. Together, we’ll take a deep dive into understanding how you interact with yourself and those around you, all while nurturing a sense of empathy and compassion. I want you to embrace your quirks because they make you uniquely you!
On a personal note…
I’ve had a few experiences that might surprise you! For example, I traveled to Northern Iraq during an important time and even spoke to some cast members from The Sopranos! I can also share some great Norm Macdonald jokes—especially the classic ones about moths!
One of my key beliefs is that while life can sometimes feel empty, it’s our emotions and stories that give it meaning. I encourage my clients to embrace life’s mysteries and remind them they’re not alone in their struggles.
Self-care is essential for me, and I enjoy mixing cardio, strength training, and yoga. This helps me handle life’s challenges better. I also see dependencies like mosquito bites—if you don’t scratch, they’ll eventually go away!
My journey in mental health is personal, shaped by my past struggles with alcoholism and the positive impact therapy has had on my life. I aim to create a safe space for my clients to explore their pain while helping them see a future where their healing can benefit others. Together, we’ll navigate life’s complexities and help you come out stronger!
